4 Mainstream Car Companies With Bold, Colourful Lineups

If you’re among those who feel that today’s automotive landscape resembles a sea of white, grey and black, with not much variety, we know what you mean and sympathize with you. Many companies prefer to use a conservative approach in order to appeal to the widest possible audience, and the SUV craze does give the impression of seeing the same cookie-cutter model on the roads.

On the other hand, a few dare to be bold when it comes to styling and particularly colour selection. Of course, several luxury and low-volume brands have their own specialized divisions offering a wide range of hues and finishes to satisfy customers eager for personalization and exclusivity. However, some mainstream brands also stand out with unique choices.

We have selected four examples. Here they are…

Jeep

In addition to creating numerous special editions of its most iconic models, Jeep offers a variety of unusual body colours. Some are even available on an entry-level vehicle like the Compass. Consider Joose, a vibrant orange, or Fathom Blue, a sort of dark turquoise. Hydro Blue is an electrifying shade, while the military green known as ’41 beautifully evokes the brand’s origins.

That being said, the Wrangler remains the king of colours at Jeep. From Mojito (green) to Reign (purple) and Tuscadero (pink), there’s always something for everyone. The 2026 model year also brings unique combinations such as the Whitecap package with a white roof and matching side stripes.

Hyundai

Of all the Asian automakers, Hyundai is arguably the boldest when it comes to designs and colours. Although the latest Kona Electric did not offer its garish yellow in Canada, the gasoline variant is turning heads in 2026 with a very eye-catching Soultronic Orange. The IONIQ 9 also stands out with Sunset Brown or Ionosphere Green. Speaking of green, what about the one called Ocado on the Santa Fe? It looks like a strange guacamole!

Let’s not forget the signature Performance Blue available with Hyundai’s sportiest models, such as the Elantra N and IONIQ 5 N. This sky-blue colour is rarely seen in the auto industry, and it comes with bright red accents on the lower body.

Nissan

Nissan is another great example. Customers can choose vibrant colours even with affordable products like the Sentra and Kicks. The former can be specified in striking Energetic Ember (orange) when opting for the SR model, with or without a black roof, while the latter offers various two-tone combinations including some featuring Yuzu Yellow or Arctic Ice Blue.

The Frontier pickup truck has an Afterburn Orange that looks fantastic on its Pro-4X model. As for sports cars, how could we forget the late GT-R and its vintage-inspired hues? For the upcoming 2027 model year, the Z will take over with Shinkai Green, a modern interpretation of the S30 generation’s classic green, but with a fine-grain, green-tinted pearl effect that creates light and shadow effects in the sunlight.

MINI

We simply couldn’t end this overview of car brands with bold colour selections without including MINI, which loves to make its cars as unique in terms of styling as they are in terms of driving dynamics. The various customization options (roof, mirror caps, side trim, wheels, etc.) play a significant role in this.

There are some iconic colours like British Racing Green and Chili Red, and then more modern ones such as Ocean Wave (light green) and Sunny Side (yellow). Even its Copper Grey Metallic stands out from other greys out there. The larger MINI Countryman is not to be outdone, with a chic and unique Slate Blue or Smokey Green.
