Living the High Life in the All-New 2027 Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Full-size luxury sedans are an extremely niche market with super-low volumes in Canada. However, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is by far the bestseller. Rather than admitting defeat in the face of the numerous SUVs available, it receives its most comprehensive update ever for the upcoming 2027 model year, one that includes 50 percent newly developed or re-engineered components.
We’re talking about a car that embodies the pinnacle of luxury, comfort and technology within the Mercedes-Benz lineup. Want some highlights? Let’s go…
Customization Taken to Another Level
The new 2027 S-Class offers two new paint finishes including one called Black Sparkling that incorporates genuine glass flakes for a striking shimmer. But wait: with the MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure program, customers will be able to choose from over 150 body colours and more than 400 interior colours.
Other available custom touches include distinctive illuminated door sills, interior stitching and a wide array of colours for the wheels and wheel accents. That’s not even the end of it, though. Customer wishes that extend beyond this portfolio will be evaluated individually by the MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure experts, enabling the ultimate level of individualization.
The Power of Artificial Intelligence
Powered by MB.OS, the fourth-generation MBUX infotainment system integrates artificial intelligence from both Microsoft and Google, combining multiple AI agents (Microsoft Bing Search, Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent and ChatGPT4o). The new MBUX Virtual Assistant revolutionizes the relationship between the vehicle and its occupants as a more intuitive, more personal digital companion. It features dynamic colours and animations, along with two new avatar designs: “LittleBenz” with its expressive face for a stronger emotional connection, as well as a human-like avatar.
The S-Class raises the bar for mobile productivity. Occupants can prepare for an important meeting while en route by dictating their thoughts hands-free in multiple languages, and MBUX Notes (powered by AI) summarizes and structures them into clear bullet points. Ideas can then be shared via Gmail or Outlook, or synced to OneNote for further editing. If necessary, folding tables create a comfortable space for working on a laptop, signing documents or enjoying a quiet meal on the move.
First-Class Comfort and Safety in Every Seat
Before we forget, you must know that all the seats in the new S-Class are heated, ventilated and offer a massage function. Even the seatbelts are heated, delivering a gentle, reassuring embrace on cold mornings, as Mercedes-Benz puts it. The dual 13.1-inch rear screens are equipped with integrated HD cameras for video conferencing with Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Webex. And since these screens can be difficult to reach when the seatback is reclined, the company has included two smartphone-like remote controls that detach from the centre console, allowing users to adjust several settings without having to stretch or move from their seat.
Elsewhere, a new electric cabin air filter ionizes and removes even extremely fine particles, helping purify the cabin air approximately every 90 seconds. As for safety, the S-Class has 15 different airbags including inflatable seatbelts in the rear which help prevent injuries (burns or broken collarbones) in the event of an accident.
