Ram’s Offensive Continues With Monster Additions to Lineup

Forget the L.A. Rams—they’ve just lost their chance to play in the Super Bowl on February 8. This year will be a big one for Ram, the truck brand, starting with increased production of the 5.7-litre HEMI V8 to meet strong demand from Ram 1500 customers, many of whom aren’t exactly sold on the new twin-turbocharged six-cylinder Hurricane engine.

Next, as we learned on January 1st, the off-road-oriented Ram Power Wagon heavy-duty pickup is about to gain the option of a high-performance Cummins engine. Yes, we’re talking about that 6.7-litre turbodiesel six-cylinder that produces 430 horsepower and a monstrous 1,075 lb-ft of torque. The trails will never be the same.

That said, no Ram truck will embody power and excess quite like the upcoming 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX, which is scheduled to hit the market in the second half of 2026 and is expected to cost around $150,000. No joke. Marking the rebirth of SRT (Street and Racing Technology), the dinosaur buried in 2024 returns with a vengeance, boasting a supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI V8 that now unleashes 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque.

How wonderful if you need a truck to sprint from 0-100 km/h in three and a half seconds or terrorize Mother Nature with 35-inch all-terrain tires connected to Bilstein Black Hawk adaptive shocks. Are we being sarcastic? Come on, you know the answer. The primary purpose of the SRT TRX is to send a message (especially to Ford with its 720-horsepower F-150 Raptor R): in this modern Jurassic era, there can only be one king.

Now, let’s go in a completely different direction, because after multiple delays and changes of plan, the Ram lineup will add a range-extending electric pickup—a sort of glorified plug-in hybrid, if you will. Initially introduced as the Ramcharger, this new model will be called Ram 1500 REV following the demise of the purely battery-powered pickup project. Production will take place at the same Sterling Heights plant in Michigan, which is receiving a $235 million USD investment for the occasion.

Here’s a vehicle that uses dual electric motors producing a combined 663 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.4 seconds and tow up to 14,000 lbs, best in the segment. The 92kWh battery can be recharged while driving thanks to a specially prepared 3.6-litre V6 acting as a generator. Ram claims approximately 200 km of zero-emission range and over 1,100 km of total range. A new official announcement with pricing detail is expected shortly.

In the longer term, Ram plans to bring back a midsize pickup that will revive the Dakota name. This one will be built alongside the Jeep Gladiator in Toledo, Ohio, and likely launched in 2027 as a 2028 model. Then, a year later, the first-ever Ram SUV will arrive. Look for a full-size truck sharing many technical components—and the same manufacturing facility in Warren, Michigan—with the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, but with a unique design and approach.

As the brand’s new slogan says, “Nothing Stops Ram.”
