5 Highlights From the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show

With less than two months to go before the Montreal International Auto Show, Los Angeles is currently hosting the latest new models from the auto industry. The Californian event has always focused on “green” vehicles including hybrids and EVs, and the 2025 edition is no exception.

That said, there’s still something for everyone, not to mention a spectacular concept that certainly caught everyone’s attention. Here are five highlights from the show:

2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric

Porsche is adding a third electric vehicle to its lineup, and not just any vehicle: the all-new Cayenne Electric becomes the German brand’s most powerful production model ever, combining the performance of a super sports car with Formula E levels of energy recuperation. As a matter of fact, three output levels are available: 402, 844 or up to 1,139 horsepower. Drivers can expect to sprint from 0-100 km/h in as little as 2.5 seconds!

Equipped with all of Porsche’s most sophisticated chassis control systems, this battery-powered Cayenne (featuring a 113kWh pack) will offer an exhilarating driving experience. What’s more, thanks to its fast-charging capability of up to 400 kW, it will be possible to recharge from 10-80 percent in under 16 minutes. Maximum range is expected to be around 500 km. But that’s not all: Porsche will also launch an 11kW inductive charging system that replaces the standard home charging station. The Cayenne Electric can be ordered now, and deliveries will begin in the summer of 2026.

2027 Kia Telluride

The second-generation Kia Telluride is making its official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show and will arrive at dealerships this winter sporting an even boxier look than the original—including a polarizing front end on the rugged X-Pro model. However, the big news can be found under the hood.

First, the V6 is replaced by a less powerful turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that boasts extra torque and can still tow up to 5,000 lbs. Alternatively, Kia will offer a hybrid system that uses the same turbocharged engine along with two electric motors. Output is increased to 329 horsepower, and in exchange for a reduced towing capacity of 4,500 lbs, drivers will be pleased with the average fuel consumption of approximately 8 L/100 km.

Elsewhere, the revised interior of the 2027 Telluride boasts more space, comfort, refinement and versatility. The redesigned front seats are available with power-adjustable legrests and a massage function for the driver, the redesigned dashboard once again features two 12.3-inch screens on a single panel (now with YouTube, Netflix and other apps on the infotainment system, not to mention an AI-powered voice assistant), and the new centre console incorporates dual wireless charging pads for smartphones.

2026 Genesis G70 Graphite

A new edition exclusive to the North American market aims to give a boost to the Korean luxury compact sedan. It starts with a matte-finish Makalu Grey body colour and dark chrome detailing throughout the grille, window surrounds and rear garnish. The look is completed with black mirror caps and dark-finish 19-inch wheels that come to a stop thanks to black-painted Brembo brake calipers.

Inside, the G70 Graphite stands out with exclusive Nappa leather upholstery in dark Ultramarine Blue paired with orange contrast elements. The result is a sporty yet super-classy look. The 12.3-inch 3D-style instrument cluster comes alive with unique graphics when the engine is fired up. Speaking of which, the twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 generates 368 horsepower. Also part of the package are electronically controlled sport dampers that lower the ride height by 10 mm to increase stability and handling

Hyundai Crater

Genesis’ parent company, Hyundai, has unveiled an impressive off-road SUV concept called Crater that aims to take adventure and exploration to another level. It kind of looks like a Dakar Rally racer… for 2040. The rooftop platform allows for the installation of auxiliary lights and accessories in addition to carrying extra cargo.

But don’t miss the interior, which is unlike anything else and contrasts sharply with the exterior by emphasizing circular and cylindrical shapes. Everything has been designed to be robust, modular and practical, yet retains a playful touch—for example the gauge displays, removable Bluetooth speaker or ambient lighting integrated directly into the dashboard.

Hyundai has made no mention of the powertrain, but no tailpipes can be seen, so draw your own conclusions. What we know is that the Crater is equipped with front and rear locking differentials as well as braking and traction management systems. The company may not actually work on a Ford Bronco or Jeep Wrangler fighter, but future XRT models could draw inspiration from this concept, it says.

2026 Nissan Rogue Plug-in Hybrid

Finally, Nissan used the Los Angeles Auto Show to introduce the new Rogue Plug-in Hybrid we’ve been promised for a long while. The result is pretty strange as it’s nothing more than a clone of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. It will arrive at dealerships sometime during the first few months of 2026—ahead of the next-generation Rogue set to debut for 2027 with available e-Power (hybrid) technology.

This is the only “Rogue” with three rows of seats instead of two, accommodating up to seven people in total. And just like the current Outlander PHEV, it combines two electric motors, a 20kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a 2.4-litre gasoline engine. The system generates a total of 248 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque while enabling an electric range of 61 km. Drivers can select from EV, Save or Charge modes depending on how they want to use the available energy. Incidentally, the battery can fully charge in 7.5 hours using a level 2 (240V) charger at home or at work.

Some of these new vehicles could be on display at the Montreal International Auto Show in January, so be there!
