Be My Valentine: 5 Car Designs to Fall in Love With

So, did you happen to fall in love with a particular car or truck while visiting the Montreal International Auto Show last month? Or are you waiting to be seduced by one of the new models to debut in the coming year?

Whatever, with Valentine’s Day approaching, love is in the air. We’d like to take this opportunity to show you five of our automotive sweethearts of the year. They’re all irresistibly styled vehicles that have recently hit the market in Canada or are about to. See if you agree with the picks and feel free to share your comments.

Volkswagen ID. Buzz

Volkswagen’s lovely new electric van, a modern interpretation of the iconic Type 2 (or Bus), is stunning evidence that fanciness is still a thing when it comes to automotive design. It can appeal to every generation and turn heads wherever it goes, which is extremely rare for any vehicle these days.

We love its colourful looks combined with that instantly adorable and recognizable face sporting a large VW logo between the headlights. By the way, the ID. Buzz recently won the 2025 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year award. Too bad it’s so expensive.

Dodge Charger Daytona

The latest Charger is a completely different car from its predecessor, although it continues to appeal to nostalgia with a design that’s reminiscent of the Chargers from the late 1960s. If you’re a muscle car enthusiast considering a move to electric mobility, you probably wouldn’t have it any other way. Incidentally, a gas-powered variant is coming later in 2025, too.

The wide, rectangular front “grille” is capped by the so-called R-Wing, enabling air to flow through a front pass-through area to enhance downforce and create a unique visual profile. Red “ring of fire” LED taillights are found on all models, with front and rear lights centered by a lit Fratzog logo—one more touch illustrating the special character of this Dodge.

Porsche 911

Porsche’s flagship has turned 60, with the eighth generation (992) getting a significant refresh for the 2025 model year. Styling is beautifully updated yet remains timeless—a big part of why the German sports car is such an iconic and revered figure.

Which one of the many different models do we like the best from a design standpoint? It’s almost impossible to decide. There’s the clean and classic 911 Carrera T, the dynamic 911 Carrera S, the track-loving 911 GT3 (with or without that big rear spoiler) or the new and electrified 911 Carrera GTS T-Hybrid. Oh, and let’s not forget the ultra-lightweight and exclusive 911 S/T with an optional Heritage Design package. Customers can choose to add special graphics and a race number (0 to 99) on the sides.

Volvo EX30

Featuring a fully electric powertrain, the smallest vehicle from Swedish automaker Volvo is also the cutest, quickest and greenest. How about that? It comes with a choice of five exterior colours (including Moss Yellow and Cloud Blue) along with a black roof and four interior design expressions (Mist, Pine, Indigo and Breeze) complemented by five available ambient light themes.

Watch out: a more adventurous-looking Cross Country variant with muscular fenders and increased ground clearance is also coming in 2025. Don’t miss the front shield with a unique piece of artwork showing the topography of the Kebnekaise mountain range in Arctic Sweden.

Polestar 4

What is it about Scandinavian design that makes it so appealing? As another proud representative of Sweden, Polestar makes a bold statement with the all-new Polestar 4. Half-coupe, half-crossover, this model stands out with a missing rear window (a roof-mounted camera feeds an image to the rear-view mirror in the cabin instead).

While not every driver may be down with that, you have to admit the Polestar 4 is a seriously good-looking vehicle. We particularly appreciate the athletic silhouette combined with slightly oversized and sharply designed wheels, not to mention the spear-shaped headlights adding a layer of aggressiveness to the mix.
