One Last Hurrah for Dodge Charger and Challenger

Production of the Dodge Charger and Challenger will end no later than Dec. 31, 2023 as the performance-obsessed brand turns its attention to the launch of a new, fully electric muscle car next year.

In fact, it’s no longer possible to order a copy of either car, including the seven “Last Call” commemorative editions that were specially created by Dodge—none more extreme than the 1,025-horsepower Challenger SRT Demon 170.

There is one exception, though. Mopar is continuing its long-standing, factory-vehicle customization program with the introduction of the Mopar ‘23 Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger special-edition models. Based on the Scat Pack Widebody package, they will be limited to 220 units each including 200 for the U.S. and 20 for Canada.

“Our iconic two-door and four-door muscle cars from Dodge are perfect vehicles to continue our annual tradition of offering exclusive, performance-oriented, low-volume packages of quality-tested, factory-backed performance parts and accessories from the Mopar Custom Shop,” said Mike Koval, head of Mopar North America. “Both Mopar ‘23 models will turn heads and be sought after by performance enthusiasts and collectors alike.”

As you can see on the pictures, the pair is available only in Pitch Black Clear Coat with unique matte-black graphics and Mopar Blue tracer stripes along the hood, roof and decklid. More custom touches include a bespoke Mopar Blue grille badge, Mopar Blue brake calipers behind forged carbon-black wheels and Mopar valve stem caps. An exclusive all-new carbon-fibre decklid spoiler is being used for the first time and is available only on Mopar ‘23 models.

The 20-inch forged aluminum wheels in exclusive Carbon Black finish are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero 305/35ZR20 summer performance tires. They sit under body-coloured fender flares that add 3.5 inches of width and are anchored by an SRT-tuned Widebody competition suspension with Bilstein three-mode adaptive dampers.

Inside, the cars stand out further with a serialized Mopar instrument-panel badge, real carbon fibre accents and suede headliner, bright pedals and door sills, plus premium floor and trunk mats with Mopar logos.

Similar to other Scat Pack 392 models, the engine under the scooped hood is a 6.4-litre HEMI V8 rated at 485 horsepower. The standard transmission on the Mopar ‘23 Challenger is the venerable Tremec six-speed manual. The TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission is available on the Mopar ‘23 Challenger and standard on the Mopar ‘23 Charger.

The Canadian manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the exclusive Mopar ’23 Special Edition Package is $5,595. Production will start in September with deliveries expected to begin in October. Consider yourself extremely lucky if you get your hands on one.
