The COVID-19 pandemic continues to put the brakes on large indoor gatherings, but the organizers of the Montreal International Auto Show have put the pedal to the metal in order to find a unique way for car enthusiasts to get their annual fix.
This year, instead of going to Palais des congrès to marvel at the many new models from the auto industry and interact with a variety of experts, the Show is going to them in the form of a special one-hour TV show to air on TVA (French only).
On Saturday, February 20 at 10 a.m., Zone Auto 2021 will be the place to tune in. Hosted by the energetic Kevin Raphael, the show will bring together a number of collaborators and guests, present the latest trends and innovations, and even deliver a few surprises. For example, viewers will get to watch world snowboard champion Seb Toutant have a blast with the new Porsche Taycan electric sports sedan.
Car collectors, technology-obsessed drivers and other enthusiasts will also find something to like. Partners of the Corporation des concessionnaires automobiles de Montréal (CCAM) will present short clips covering a range of consumer-related topics such as financing, insurance, extended warranties, aftermarket service, and more.
AJAC’s Best Vehicles of the Year
Every year during the Montreal International Auto Show, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) announces the various category winners that will compete for the titles of Canadian Car of the Year and Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year.
Things changed due to the pandemic, of course, but the AJAC members still managed to test more than 250 vehicles last fall.
Eight category winners will be announced on Zone Auto 2021. The Car Guide’s Antoine Joubert, Gabriel Gélinas, Julien Amado and Frédéric Mercier will take part in a roundtable to debate about the most deserving models and their personal top picks.
